The Oxford Textbook of Medicine is the foremost international textbook of medicine. Unrivaled in its coverage of the scientific aspects and clinical practice of internal medicine and its subspecialties, it is a fixture in the offices and wards of physicians around the world.
More comprehensive, more authoritative, and more international than any other textbook, it focuses on offering practical guidance on clinical management and the prevention of disease. Three introductory chapters outline a philosophy which has always characterized the Oxford Textbook of Medicine.
It is humane, thought-provoking, and aims to instill in readers an understanding of the role of medicine in society, and the contribution it can make to the health of populations. So, access to the OTM is very important, and affordable. It is essential these days as roles are more pressurized. All Rights Reserved. He qualified in medicine from University of Cambridge pre-clinical and University of Oxford clinical , trained in general medicine and nephrology in London and Oxford, and first worked as a consultant supported by the Wellcome Trust in Oxford before moving to Cambridge as an NHS consultant physician in At L and with metallic sheen on the cover as standard, this is the intellectual equivalent of a Jaguar coupe and inspires similar levels of envy. It will be the first reference source I choose when questions arise as I continue to practice medicine.
This is an issue that is intelligently addressed. The coverage of the global burden of disease, preventive medical strategies, health policy, and costing are new and welcome additions. I found these sections to be especially thought-provoking and believe that they are valuable reading for all budding medical graduates, teachers, and researchers. It may seem harsh to give the whole book only two stars since in the main it is a solid work and certainly comprehensive.
I certainly think that is a really good point. However, I have decided to give it two stars since the type of blatant misrepresentation that is included here has caused a tremendous amount of iatrogenic morbidity and even some mortality in ME patients. I am very eager to give the book five-stars, because in most other respects, it really deserves it. I have learned a lot from it.
