Seems to be another case of Microsoft shooting itself in the foot. Tuesday, May 19, AM. Windows Live Mail the desktop client now has a Calendar sub-app included. Works for me - and it syncs automatically with the Windows Live online calendar I don't consider that an option either as I already use Outlook.
I don't want to have some multi-function memory hog constantly open just to get a few calendar reminders every now and then. Nor do I want to sync up my calendar with anything online. I just want a small, easy to use calender like the Vista calendar.

I am using windows mail and windows calendar in Windows 7 rc just fine. Mail at least. Getting the "maito" to work was a little harder, but it works.
Wish I could figure out how to get calendar reminders to work. Any hints? Edited by ron. Thursday, May 21, AM. If you have Vista installed dual boot you can access and use the Vista Calendar in Windows 7. Find the app and pin to Start Menu. Hope this helps some one looking for a replacement.
I've missed some tasks because of this. My reminders appear only when I open the program. I've checked and unchecked that option in the "Options" dialog box, to see if reminders work when Windows Calendar is nor running, but they didn't.
Can anybody tell me how to let reminders work even if the program is closed? And I insist, the obvius option in the "Options" dialog box didn't work. This thread is locked.
